In a recent conversation with CA Ashish Kalra, All India Rank 3 in the CA Intermediate September 2024 exams, Vidhi Jain opened up about her experience studying Cost and Management Accounting (CMA) through Kalra sir’s classes.
Known for her discipline and strong performance, Vidhi took time to reflect on what made her journey impactful and how specific resources helped her secure top marks in her exams. Here’s an insightful look into Vidhi’s experience with Kalra sir’s classes, including what worked best for her and how the resources provided made a difference.
CA Ashish Kalra: You’ve done exceptionally well in CMA, scoring the highest marks in your six subjects. I’d love to hear about your overall experience with the classes. What was it like for you, especially with the pocket book and other resources?
Vidhi Jain (CA Inter AIR 3): I’m really grateful for all the guidance. Overall, my experience with your CMA classes was excellent. When I started with Cost, I took a bit of a break before resuming, but right from the start, your approach to explaining complex concepts was very helpful. It felt like you were making even the most difficult topics accessible.
CA Ashish Kalra: That’s great to hear! And yes, I noticed you mentioned the pocket book specifically—how did it help in your studies?
Vidhi Jain (CA Inter AIR 3): The pocket book was a lifesaver! It was my go-to during revisions, especially when time was short. The way you simplified each topic into concise notes made it easy to brush up on concepts without feeling overwhelmed. It also saved me from having to go through entire books when I just needed a quick review. The pocket book was like a summary of everything essential.
CA Ashish Kalra: I’m glad the pocket book helped. I designed it to be aligned with ICAI’s syllabus but kept it concise enough for fast revisions. As you might have noticed, I modified the language slightly to make the explanations even clearer. How did you find the alignment with ICAI’s content?
Vidhi Jain (CA Inter AIR 3): Absolutely, sir! The material you provided was more than sufficient for covering ICAI’s content. I realized that you structured everything to match the syllabus without adding unnecessary details. When I compared the topics in your notes with ICAI’s curriculum, everything was covered, yet it was so much easier to understand because of your approach. Having that clarity helped me focus on what was essential without any distractions.

CA Ashish Kalra: I’m thrilled to hear that, Vidhi. One thing I always emphasize is that CMA requires focus on both conceptual clarity and practicality. Did you feel the classes supported you in both areas?
Vidhi Jain (CA Inter AIR 3): Yes, definitely! You balanced theory and practicals really well. I remember whenever I felt unsure, especially about theory, I could fall back on your notes. Even though the language was adapted, it was clear, and it aligned perfectly with ICAI’s standards. Your approach helped me gain confidence that I was preparing accurately, especially for theory.
CA Ashish Kalra: That’s exactly the goal! I want students to be clear on what they’re learning so they don’t feel they’re studying just to pass but actually gaining knowledge. With CMA being one of the most challenging subjects, I believe real understanding is essential. And it looks like you managed it beautifully!
Vidhi Jain (CA Inter AIR 3): Thank you so much, sir! Your methods genuinely prepared me well for the exam. From the main classes to the revision support, everything just fit together so well. I’m incredibly grateful to have had your guidance—it was a key factor in helping me achieve this rank.
