CA Intermediate Exam May 25: Dates, Form Fees, & Timings
ICAI has officially announced the dates for the CA Intermediate exams to be held in May 2025. This update was eagerly awaited by students, particularly those who appeared for the January 2025 exams and are preparing for their second group of CA Intermediate. The May 2025 exam cycle is part of ICAI’s newly introduced tri-annual exam schedule, aimed at providing more flexibility and faster progression for students.

Note: Due to the tense and sensitive security situation between India and Pakistan, ICAI decided to postpone CA Intermediate Group 2 on the 8th of May 2025 (informed in this post), and after the ceasefire news from the Indian officials, ICAI rescheduled Group 2 exams and issued a notification on 10th May 2025 with updated exam dates.

The late fee for submission of the examination application form after the scheduled last date would be INR 600/- (for Indian / Bhutan / Kathmandu Centres) and US $ 10 (for Abroad Centres) as decided by the ICAI Council.

CA Inter Exams Pattern for May 2025
The CA Intermediate exam consists of six subject papers. Each paper is designed to test the conceptual clarity and application of knowledge in various subjects related to accountancy, auditing, and business.

Passing Criteria
To qualify for the CA Intermediate level:
- A candidate must secure a minimum of 40% marks in each individual paper.
- Additionally, the candidate must achieve an aggregate of 50% marks across SIngle Group, Both Group papers.
Why the New Schedule Benefits Students
This is the first time ICAI is conducting CA Intermediate exams three times a year—in January, May, and September. Previously, the exams were held bi-annually in May and November. The revised schedule offers several advantages:
- Reduced Waiting Period: Students who appeared for the January 2025 CA Intermediate exams can now attempt their second group in May 2025, saving two months compared to the previous bi-annual cycle.
- Faster Completion of CA Course: With three exam cycles in a year, students can complete the CA course more quickly. This reduces the overall time spent between different levels and allows candidates to qualify as Chartered Accountants sooner.
- More Opportunities to Improve: The tri-annual exam schedule provides students with more frequent opportunities to clear their exams, reducing the pressure associated with long waiting periods and improving overall pass rates.
