OVERVIEW & SCOPE

Reasons why CA is best option after XII

A CA professional is best known for his/her vast experience and knowledge in every field related to business. These two prefixes can change our lives in very much appreciable positive ways.

In the present scenario, if we talk about working Chartered Accountants, they have a scope in business, finance, audit and taxation, financial planning, general management, and so on.

A qualified CA has his/her own brand value and ever since GST came into existence, the value of this profession has touched the clouds where everyone wants to reach. The role of CA professionals has drastically increased after GST which has given a new taxation system to our economy and CA professionals are helping by all means in implementing this into our economy.

The demand for a CA is more than the supply.

Eligibility and Entrance

Many students are having doubts in their minds or they have a mindset that only commerce students can pursue CA so let us get these irrelevant thoughts of aspirants out of way once and for all. Yes, of course, a commerce student can do it more comfortably as compared to a non-commerce student but if we make CA our “only goal” then no such statement exists. Hence, if you are from any other background then also you are utmost eligible for this profession. Also, no minimum percentage is required for getting enrolled in CA course except passing class XII.

It is basically divided into three stages called FOUNDATION, IPCE (INTEGRATED PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE EXAMINATION) and CA FINAL.

After clearing your XII standard, you can appear for the foundation course only if you get your registration done before 30 June and 31st December for the examinations to be held in May and November, respectively.

After clearing the CA foundation, we can opt for the second level i.e. IPCE after a study period of eight months. Do remember we need smart study in CA. Hard work is required, undoubtedly, but smart work is also much required than hard work because CA is meant for hard-working and smart working aspirants.

Now after qualifying any of the group of IPCE, we need to undergo a practical training called “ARTICLESHIP” of three (3) years but before the commencement of our training, we need to take an orientation program of fifteen (15) days as well as a four (4) weeks of ITT training. Then we can commence our practical training of three (3) years.

After qualifying intermediate level and completing 2½ years of ARTICLESHIP followed by an advance ITT course training and orientation programme in last two (2) years of practical training, we will be eligible to register ourselves for the last milestone of the profession i.e. CA FINAL.

So we can say that the complete duration of this course is four (4) to five (5) years if we crack it in one attempt which we can definitely do by taking good and trusted guidance from professional experts of the subjects as well as by our own smart self-preparation.

Fee Structure

Registration fee of ICAI in all three (3) stages of the profession is fair enough and even if we opt for private coaching for the examinations then also total expenditure would not be more then 3-4 lakhs for the complete course.

If we talk about the profession in a monetary term then also the fee of CA is much reasonable as compared with other highly professional courses and sooner we can become a member of the ICAI.

Now after clearing CA next step we look forward is about Placements

Well, there is huge scope for CAs not only in India as well as Abroad. As we know there are many government and private companies that are providing jobs with excellent pay package. Aspirants can become employed in a firm as an employee or can opt for their own self-practice. Like I said earlier, there can be many roles of a CA in an organization like auditing & assurance, tax consultancy, accounting services, finance outsourcing, and financial reporting. Every firm or organisation, registered under Companies Act, hire CAs who manages all their tasks like Financial Advisor, Finance Controllers, etc.

So we can say there is an abundance of job opportunities and a very bright future waiting for the Chartered Accountants.

Let’s discuss JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN INDIA

It is a profession which offers smart packages and a lot of career options and opportunities with leaving the best salary in-hand and if we think in monetary terms everybody wants to earn a return which should be more then, of course, our already invested amount.

One thing which must be very clear to us that a Chartered Accountant, under training period itself, can earn a good amount, in the form of a stipend and apart from stipend a good and attractive amount if he or she is having good knowledge. If we talk in general terms then after qualifying CA, we can easily earn handsome package in a very first year itself which not only set off our invested amount but also gives us a good return.

As I said if we incurred a total cost of INR 4 Lakh for our professional degree in the span of four (4) to five (5) years then a qualified CA is capable of earning this much amount in the first year itself. Rather I should say the minimum package is 5-6 lakhs even if we don’t get campus placements and we can’t forget that there are minimum guaranteed stipend in those three wonderful years of our practical training so it is altogether a profession which cannot be replaced by any other professional course.

Nowadays everyone is aware of emerging jobs in GST sector after the implementation of GST in INDIA. Even if you are not a qualified Chartered Accountant but having knowledge of taxation, you can join this field and it is a ground reality that though GST has been rolled out, the majority of people are still not aware of different taxation segments.

ICAI itself helps its members in getting a placement at the best organizations and provide, indeed, the best platforms for the CAs. It all also depends on skills and practical knowledge a Chartered Accountant is having. Hence the more knowledge you have, the attractive payscale you get.

The average salary of CA at the entry point plus three years stipend is more or less equivalent to the total amount of expenditure incurred on getting a CA degree which is treated as a prestigious one. Thus CA degree holder gets a hundred per cent dividend on the investment made by him/her.

If we talk about the highest and maximum package of this profession, it has been up to 60-70 lakhs per annum. It is very much the true figures and the countries outside India are hiring qualified CAs and paying this much amount to the rank holders as well as to the deserving Chartered Accountants.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN ABROAD

There is an excellent opportunity in abroad as well for CA aspirants as ICAI has tied up with its Canadian, Singapore counterparts to permit the Indian professionals to work on various assignments in these nations. Multinationals hire CAs on an excellent package in ABROAD as I already said the highest package went up to 70 Lakhs per annum.

It should be noticed that rank holders and single attempt qualifiers are prioritised over multiple attempts qualifiers for such smart packages but undoubtedly every CA get attractive package and Salary as per his/ her experience.

However, there are many CAs who gain expertise and experience by working in an organisation followed by starting up their own business so sometimes there is no upper threshold for their overall growth. In professional & financial terms, CAs can also give services to capital markets and take the markets towards profitability.

Last but not the least, I would say ICAI also provides internal attractive jobs to their members with a good in-hand salary.

There are, also, lakhs of women who came forward & became a part of this prestigious profession.

In the end, I would say it will be a matter of pride if we choose this profession because if you really want to do something then just walk away from the crowd because crowd gives the courage bit it takes away the identity and this particular profession can give us that identify which everyone cannot have.
