CA INTERMEDIATE CMA (COST AND MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING) OLD VS NEW

With the implementation of the new scheme for education and training by ICAI, effective from 1 July 2023, there have been certain changes in the CA syllabus and today we are going to brief you about  what has been added and deleted simultaneously in Cost and Management accounting(CMA),  CA Intermediate level.

1. Format of question paper – Under the old scheme, CMA was a descriptive practical based subject comprising of 100 marks but according to the new scheme, case based MCQs have been added comprising of 30 marks with no negative marking whereas descriptive practical questions will come for 70 marks now.

• Changes in the module-

1)“ Direct expenses” concept  is now clubbed with “Employee cost” chapter	1) “Contract costing” which was earlier part of with “Job costing” chapter has now been deleted.

Joint products and by products	– Question 5 and 6 & definition of “by product” has been improved                            further. -“Methods of apportionment of joint cost to join products” is elaborated further.
10)Service costing	Illustration 15 & concept of “Key performance” has been introduced
11)Standard costing		Question 8
12) Marginal costing	Illustration 9 is discussed in detail	Illustration 10,11,12,13,14  & Question 21
13) Budgets and budgetary controls	Concept of feedback and feed forward control is newly added
