5 Tips to Manage Stress During CA Exams

Remove the Fear Factor

Be it any level, CA- Foundation, Intermediate, or Final, the syllabus is vast and extensive. You are required to cover a wide range of topics and this can create a fear of failure in your mind. It is very important to fight your fears because the crippling feeling of self-doubt and constant nagging thought of- “What if I fail?”  can hinder your concentration and can cause obstruction in your path.

Set small targets at first, this will improve your confidence. Seek support from your parents and mentors and remember negative thoughts are just a part of your journey. Don’t let them dominate you. Write “Future CA” before your name on your study material and read it aloud day and night till it becomes “CA” before your name.

Prioritize Your Tasks

Prioritization is a powerful skill that will help you take control of your study load and optimize productivity.  Analyze topics in terms of their weightage and focus extra on those things that you think are crucial from the CA exam point of view.

Past year question papers will help you in analyzing which chapters are important and carry maximum marks.

Make your study plan accordingly. Tackle your most intense and high efforts topics first. Focus on one topic or chapter at a time, and try not to multitask. Creating your short notes for last-minute revision will be great.

Focus on Self Care

Excessive stress can take a toll on physical and mental health so it is very important to take care of yourself.

Get adequate sleep, eat nutritious meals, stay hydrated, and exercise regularly. Taking short breaks during study sessions will also help refresh your mind. Practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing and mindfulness to calm your nerves.  Always express gratitude for all the good things in your life. Remind yourself that the outcome of the exams is not under your control. Also, the outcome of the exams is in no way a reflection of who you are or your worth or intelligence. Do the best of your ability.

Visualize Success

CA Exams carry a lot of pressure and it is easy to catastrophize about results. So to calm yourself in this situation, you must visualize yourself succeeding in your exams. Just imagine the day when you will finally be on the bright side of the tunnel, that you have become a Chartered Accountant.  Believe in- that it can- and will happen. When you imagine every step of an event or activity, you get your mind and body ready to take those steps in real life.

The more you visualize something, the stronger that vision becomes – and the higher the likelihood that you’ll get what you want.

Organization is the Key
